Seems like I only write once a year or something. blogging just isn't my thing obviously.
E now has a baby sister, she was born November 5th. I haven't met her yet, waiting for the 1 month confinement to be over. this means that he is already 5 years old. how did that happen? where did the time go? they moved out of their in-laws to their own home in Yishun, which is freaking miles away. we haven't seen as much of them in the last year. I suppose it is also because he is older now and has started kindergarten.
as for me, this year has been alright for work. I have done a few more plays since the last entry. most recently, HOTEL for the Singapore International Festival of Arts. It was a total success, received such great reviews all round, an instant classic. Crazy. Wild Rice have decided to rerun it next year in July as part of our Theatre Festival. And the show has been invited to a festival in Japan next October too. I am really thrilled about that.
I also worked with Oliver Chong of the Finger Players in "Off Centre". it was my first time working with him, what a wonderful company it was. I hadn't worked with masks for a long time. Then there was also "Descendants of the Admiral Eunuch" as part of the same Sg50 series by the Esplanade. That was directed by Jeff Chen, and I only contributed a voice over for one section of the play. And I started the year with my first play with Pangdemonium, a wonderful piece about acting called "Circle Mirror Transformation". It was great fun acting in an American play, using American accents, what a gift to be able to practice that.
And now I end the year with another play by Alfian Sa'at. It is called GRC and produced by Teater Ekamatra. Malay theatre is a lot more relaxed than English language theatre. As always, I am just grateful to have work.

couple of years later ...
last day of May 2014. It is a Saturday, a dull day. It has been unusually rainy. I was in "The House of Bernarda Alba" last month, playing the eldest daughter, Angustias. got nice photos out of it. preparing now to play mother in "You Mean The World To Me" in hokkien "Hai Ki Xin Lor" - it's Teong Hin's movie script adapted for the stage. It's going to be at the Khoo Kongxi -- think it will be quite an experience. Excited and nervous to be playing in Penang hokkien.
had a full day of babysitting yesterday which was such good fun. E is 3 and half now, cute as ever and chatty, chatty, chatty. he is the closest you will get to bottling sunshine at the moment for me.

silly me
this is my third entry.
I don't even know how to find this blog. Silly me. Had to google search myself and even then it has taken me days to figure out that it's an @ickacangmachine page. In any case, here I am and glad I came. That's a reference to a song by The Wanted - Lukas, Jacob & Kristine were asking me if I knew who they were. So I finally checked them out on You-tube today, and surprise, surprise, they are a boy band, I think from England, just like One Direction (who I like a lot!) "Glad I came" the video was all about Evissa / Ibiza and that is where we are headed for Sha-mayn and Tobias's wedding. I thought that was quite serendipitous.
Had a really bad back and front ache around my upper belly region last friday in the middle of the night. Siu and Dad took me to SGH A&E - poor dad was quite stressed out by the whole incident. It reminded him of the multiple times he drove mum there -- on his own - from Bedok. Those must have been very terrible times for both of them. It was also the 24th of August - mum's death day anniversary. He drove with his hazard lights on. I heard them talking in the front, I lay down on the back seat. Around the AYE I had to rouse to give them directions so they wouldn't take the wrong exit off the highway. So funny. My 2 men.
This was the first time I had been to hospital besides my rehab times and lazik op. First time I remember having to have a needle in my hand for the doctor to draw blood! Was less traumatic and frightening that I thought it would be. Funny thing is, I recognize the Filipina nurse who put the needle in! They did blood tests and X-rays, & the long and short of it was, they gave me an anaema, (another first! I had to wear an adult nappy - YUCKS!) said I had been constipated! That was it! Oh well. People pay lots of money for detoxing colonic-irrigation type treatments - we paid $99 haha.
Gotta go get ready to take my body downtown now.

Second Entry
Not sure how to do this. Should I create a new blog or just continue here? testing 1,2,3
waiting on Lao Jiu "老九" to finish so I can have my husband back! He is wow-ing audiences with his performance. for some, they are just amazed and super impressed by his Mandarin & Hokkien acting ability. he is really good in it. moved me to tears. but that's also because of the music, he has such great songs.
been doing a bit more exercise lately in an attempt to lose some weight, it's getting ridiculous. I was at 70kg, heavier than my father. *Groan* back to 65kg now, should get to at least 55-58kg - 50kg would be my ideal weight I think. after all I am all of 5'1' (or 2" sometimes 3 when I lie) walked to St Mary's said a prayer at mum's niche. also at Eugene's plaque and a prayer for Tua Ku - my mum's brother - whose ashes are in the next room to my mother. it's gonna be 6 years since he passed. 1 Aug 2006. so fast time goes.
family are coming round tomorrow. looking forward to seeing all the kids again. especially my darling - Baby E !!!!

Midsummer is here, and lingering. Very bitter sweet time for me. My birthday. My friend's death day. My favorite cousin and god-sister's wedding day. Usually never celebrate it. It was always during school hols when I was a kid. and I was always conflicted whether I liked that or not. Pre-school days, dad always had a party and cake for me. Of course I don't remember any of those, it was always family, I only remember it because of all the photos he took. Black and white of course. but you can always tell which birthday it is cos cake would be shaped 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. I have bout 20 cousins on my mother's side, I think that was the last count. I am number 3. My god-sister D is prob number 19. I probably got that all wrong. it doesn't matter.
No work till October. Sigh. Idle mind. Longing to get away. I miss Baby E. He makes me smile.
